Moving Tips

Moving can be stressful! Here is some tips to make your move go as smoothly as possible.

1. When packing label all the boxes that are going to the destination room rather that where they come from. Movers are being paid by the hour so the faster they can process load and unload the more money you are going to save!

2. Put all of your high value items ( Jewlery, Photos and momentos in the trunk of your can) it will be safe there and there will be no panic or confusion when trying to locate the items after the move.

3. When packing dishes we reccomend packing the plates on their side. it might seem weird but structually they will hold stronger that if they were packed on the flat surface.

 4. Have everything disasembled and labled that will ensure that the move can go as fast as possible. Washer and dryer disconnected, bed sets taken apart, wrapped together with the screws and other hardware taped to the boards.

5. Save a parking spot for the moving truck if there is not driveway to load it will save you money for the amount of time the movers have to walk in relation to the loading area.

6. Empty out the dresser drawers, armour, and china hutches. The amount of weight that will be reduced will lessen the chance of damage to the items or injury.

 7. Call your internet, satalite and cable provider before the move so everything can be installed on the day of your move.

8. Have your mail forwarded to your new address. Do not want to miss any bills that still come in the mail.

9. Hire the right movers. Make sure they are licensed and insured through the state agencys.

10. Consider additional insurance. Most movers provide the .60 per pound protection, but for an additional small fee you can have all of your items fully protected.
